Interview with Christopher Moreno, Chile

Name, country, function and union in your country of origin?

Christopher Moreno Trigo, Chile. President, FENASENF National Federation of Nurses Associations of Chile.

How long have you been an ILO delegate? What brought you to the ILO?

First time here, as Technical Advisor of the Unitary Central of Workers CUT.

We request the Government of Chile to Ratify ILO C 149, the Nursing Personnel Convention of 1977.

What is your opinion on the evolution of the degree of union organization over time? Progress and obstacles: Any country that stands out?

The evolution is positive, since it allows generating commitment to working groups and negotiations with the government to generate studies and evaluate the impact of the government.

Looking ahead, what do you see? What is the biggest challenge/best path forward?

I hope that Chile ratifies C 149 and that this will allow us to improve the working conditions of nurses in Chile.

The biggest challenge is to implement an effective civil servant career so that it will benefit all workers in the state.

The best way is to work in conjunction with the Nurses of Chile, improving working conditions day by day, implementing a law on nurses that allows us to recognize nursing specialties and the entire field of development and management that it covers in the country.
